Understanding Your Protection Options
We believe in transparency. While we aim for perfection, we have professional strategies on paper to ensure you are covered if the unexpected happens. Your protection level is tied directly to your service tier.
1. Economy Protection (No-Liability)
Included with: Value-Tier Flat Rate services (typically for simple deliveries and mini moves of bags, boxes, or small furniture).
Coverage: No liability. This is our most budget-friendly option for low-risk items where the priority is a quick, simple discounted delivery.
Best for: Moving non-fragile, easy to move items where you want the absolute lowest price.
2. Essential Protection (Basic Coverage)
Included with: Our Regular Hourly Rate.
Coverage: Your items are covered at $0.60 per pound per item. This is the standard legal minimum for the moving industry.
Example: A 100lb dresser is covered for $60.00.
Best for: Standard household moves where you want professional talent at a competitive rate.
3. Premium Protection (Peace of Mind)
Available for: Regular Hourly Rate + 20%.
Why it’s worth it: We often handle deliveries for high-end furniture stores and high-end homes involving very beautiful and expensive items. For this “white-glove” service, we charge a 20% premium.
Example: If our standard rate for 2 guys is $120/hr, the Premium rate is $144/hr.
Coverage: We cover the Full Repair or Replacement cost for any damaged item, up to a maximum total liability of $1,000 per job.
Best for: High-value furniture, electronics, and customers who want total peace of mind.
*Important Requirements & Limitations*
The 50% Liability Rule: To keep our services affordable, our total liability for any single job cannot exceed 50% of the total cost of the move.
Example: If we move a $1,000 TV on a $400 job, our maximum liability is $200.
High-Value Notification: Customers must notify us at least 24 hours in advance of any items valued over $500 (e.g., large TVs, art, antiques).
Packed By Owner (PBO): We are responsible for the items we pack. For boxes you pack yourself, we are only liable if there is clear, visible damage to the exterior of the box caused by our handling.
Fragile Items: Items like glass, marble, or electronics packed by the owner are typically handled at the “owner’s risk”.
Valuables: Items such as jewelry, money, or important documents should not be included in the contents, as they are not covered under basic liability. They should be moved with special care.
Building Damage: We take full responsibility for damage to walls, floors, or elevators. We will arrange for professional repairs to restore the property to its original condition.
High-Value & Full-Value Protection (RVP) (Coming soon!)
For moves involving high-value collections exceeding our $1,000 Premium limit, we recommend checking with your current home insurance provider (such as BCAA, TD, or Intact) as many policies include ‘In-Transit’ coverage. Alternatively, you can purchase a specialized Canadian policy through providers like PAL Insurance Canada or CargoInsure.ca (Coming soon!)
Commercial General Liability
We are a professional, fully-insured company. For major commercial jobs and total peace of mind, Hercules Helpers proudly carries $2,000,000 in Commercial General Liability Insurance. This means we are ready for the biggest jobs in the most exclusive buildings in Vancouver.
